Adobe Air it must be magic

This is not part of any of my current projects, but is  something I wanted to share. I managed to steal by brothers phone for a few minutes, which can run the Adobe Air runtime (my ZTE Skate can not). I created a Adobe Air project and copied over the files from my AS3 project, making no change to the code……. and to my shock the game loaded. You can touch the blobs and make them disappear, not every thing is working fully, but with no code changes I have most of the game working on a mobile phone.

AS3/Flash project update

This just a quick update. I spent a few hours this weekend on the rendering code, trying to make the UI independent from the game board, because when the game board was rotated the UI was also rotated.

The other major update in this build, is that I have integrated a UI system, which should speed up development.

New Flash/AS3 project

I have some free time at the moment, which means I can finally get around to learning AS3 and Flash (something I have been meaning to do for ages). Not having the money to buy the Adobe Flash Professional software, I dug around on the internet looking for a free (legal) method of learning Flash and came across the the Flex SDK and FlashDevelop.

So I had my tools and now needed a project, after some thinking I decided to develop a  game similar to Gem Breaker Twist.

Waypoint

I was meeting a friend one weekend but had no idea where the pub was, and asked my self is there app that could help solve this problem? Waypoint is the result of this thought (and a Sunday with nothing better to do).

Waypoint will use your phones GPS (or network if GPS is turned off) to generate a map with your current location that you can share, Waypoint will also find the address of your current location. You can edit the location and address and this can be done by just touching the map and a new map and address will be generated.

An optional photo can be taken and sent with your map and address to make meeting even easier. Waypoint allows you to send the message it generates via your favourite messaging and social networking applications installed on your phone, be that Facebook, SMS, Email…….

Preview of my next xna project

So after playing and finishing the new Desus Ex game, I wanted to start a new project. So I put my thinking hat on and I came up with a few new designs for puzzle/block games (one of which I am holding on to for a future project), but I wanted to do something different and decided on a side scrolling shooter. After a around a day I had a basic design, not finished but enough to start works on a prototype.

What I have working is the music processing (this changes the colour of the background) and being able to create and load levels using my platform framework project.
